Membership Information Page
Members of Des Plaines pay Semi-annual dues of $42 in October and April for 
6-months of membership which includes a subscription to the monthly TOASTMASTER 
magazine.  This is equivalent to $7.50 per month.  New members who join in November-March, 
or May-September pay $7.50 less per month, depending on their start month, since they 
will have fewer months of membership during the current semi-annual period. New Members
also pay a one-time fee of $26, which covers the cost of the Toastmasters "Communications" 
& "Leadership" speaking project manuals and a membership pin.
 
New Membership is a 3 step Process:
1. First, prospective members must attend at least one meeting (to decide if the Toastmasters 
program is what they are seeking, if they feel comfortable with the club's members, and if 
they are ready to commit to our Toastmasters club and their own self-development). Then they
complete a New Member Application with the help of a club officer.  
 
2. Upon receipt of a properly-completed New Member application, and a check payable to
 DES PLAINES TOASTMASTERS for the proper fees, each new member is then voted 
into membership (a formality) following a very brief informal "interview" with one of the officers 
and other members.  This "interview" is so that perspective new members understand the 
Toastmaster program and what is expected from them as members (in time commitment, 
meeting attendance, and commitment to self-improvement) and allows our members to meet 
each prospective member.
 
3. Finally, all new Members are formally inducted into Des Plaines Toastmasters (at a 
future meeting) at which time you will be presented with your Toastmasters lapel pin.  
Please note that all New Members joining during the last 1-2 months of a Semi-annual 
period (in February and March, or August and September) are asked to pay the next 6 
months semi-annual dues in advance.  This is so that your new membership does not 
automatically expire the month after you join (at the end of the current Semi-annual 
period).
